Dust and Golden Matter

A dramatic collage of dark, golden-hued bullfighting scenes featuring a matador, bull, and arena under moody lighting.

Last August, I attended the workshop “ Photography: a poetry of everyday life” led by the artists Marguerite Bornhauser, at the “ Rencontres Photographiques d’Arles”.

Dust and Golden Matter

English version:

In the twilight, the white horses can only be indistinctly perceived in the arena's moats. Led by their equestrians dressed in black, they wander, gather, and form a circle, then depart each on their own way.

The city lights cast shadows on the ancient walls and ripple on the river. The silhouette of a man blends into the glowing red reflection of a glass door. Under the archway, suddenly, a horse dashes into the white beam of a spotlight. For a moment, it is alone, exposed in the evening.

The night, crossed by the storm, will sow only a handful of rain.

Tomorrow, the bull, with its hoof, will kick-up the quartz sand untouched by the mistral.

I am returning from the land of the gold seekers.

Love sparks, grows, unfolds and folds sometimes unpredictably. Through poems, and short texts in prose, Butterflies’ Ellipses unweaves the silky connection between improbable lovers. At times anecdotal, the story and its felt vibrations run with freedom, serendipity, and a thread of faith.
